UPCOMING AUDITIONS
AUDITIONS FOR GIL AND THE WILD MAN
Auditions will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 5 PM – 10 PM
Auditions will be done one-on-one complying with all socially-distanced requirements. We hope this will be a full production in October of 2020.
The actors in Gil and the Wild Man will play two roles each—one in a real-world hospital, and one in the made-up Kingdom of Izubopotamia, a product of the imagination of a ten-year-old boy.
As such, we would like you to please prepare one monologue that shows your ability to play grounded realism, as well as an additional monologue, or story, or poem, or skit, or puppet show, or space opera, or whatever you'd like to bring in that shows off your ability to play whimsical, goofy, superhuman, monstrous, or just plain imaginary.*
*Please don't be intimidated by this audition—we want you to come in and have as much fun as you can in whatever way you'd like. Don't overthink it! Let your sense of play be your guide.
CHARACTERS:
Note: The Characters in Gil and the Wild Man are loosely written in terms of typing, and we will be casting with a very open mind with regards to age, gender and all that good stuff.
Gil / King Izubador - 10 years old, a quiet kid with an incredible imagination / a ruthless and totally awesome king who is basically the best at everything -- or so his subjects tell him.
Noah / Bex He-Goat - 10 years old, an outgoing boy, energetic and a little chaotic / a wild beast born of a meteor, he leaps with gazelles and hunts with harpies and doesn't have a bed time.
Lugal / Dad - Mid 30's, the faithful but reserved and timid attendant to Gil & King Izubador / Gil's father, dry sense of humor, introverted but warm and funny.
Morgan / Ninbaba - Mid 20's to Mid 30's, Noah's nurse, caring and kind / another attendant to King Izubador. Unceasingly positive, and quite loving indeed.
Dr. Witek / Hattifat - Mid 30's to Mid 100's, Noah's attending physician in the hospital, intelligent & gentle / a wise old hermit who has seen many eons and acts as the narrator of the tale of Izubador and Bex He-Goat."
